at the House

Our dearest darling cherub monkeys, as you may or may not be aware, we extended our opening hours back on April 15th to be open every night from Tuesdays through Saturdays serving up drinkies 'till 11pm and a new seriously scrumptious evening food menu 'till 9pm.

Nearly a month on and things have been going really rather well so here's the low down on all things on River House after dark…

Enlisting the help of local chef, Pascale Vickery (aka late night kitchen beast warrior), who has worked for the likes of Soho House, the new evening menu comprises of a small but mighty selection of 'small plates' offering veggie, vegan, meat, fish and gluten free options of some seriously sick cuisine. That's 'sick' like how the gangster rappers say it, so it's a really good thing.

Pascale has created a varied menu that focuses on fresh flavour with good quality, seasonal ingredients from local producers. The small plates are a great way to try a bit of everything by offering people the option to mix and match, thus reducing the risk of 'wanting what the person next to you ordered', which is often a serious risk.

These bad boy small plates are also great for sharing, or for grabbing a light bite whilst you wrap your lips around our beautiful new cocktail menu.

Along with the small plates menu, we're offering selection of entrées (including some really rather delectable oils and dips that we strongly recommend you try) as well as nightly changing specials for those looking for a main meal. Our evening specials mean we're able to keep the menu new and exciting whilst working within a limited kitchen space, so fear not foodie lovers of a varied menu, things are gonna get seriously interesting.

We've now teamed up with some pretty special fruit and veg suppliers, butchers, bakers and fishmongers to supply both the evening and daytime kitchen with high quality, responsibly sourced ingredients for our ever growing menu. Details of our new partnerships will soon be available on 'Our Suppliers' page under the 'About' tab on our website.

Our evening bar has also extended its alcohol selection, offering a new menu of wines from around the world, boutique beers & ciders, obscure spirits and an ever changing seasonal cocktail menu. Charlie Campbel-Martin, one of the sexy new faces of our River House team with experience from Babington House, is now managing the bar, creating new drinks menus and exploring flavours for the booze lovers of Frome to enjoy.

These new recruits really know their stuff and with Charlie on the bar and Pascale in the kitchen, we're very excited to make The River House a real destination for food and drink in the evening, just as our wonderful team have done for the daytime café over the last 18 months.

Feedback so far has been fantastic with folk returning and re-booking, which of course is always the biggest compliment you can give us.

We'd like to thank the continued support of our regulars in this big move for us; it's your ongoing support that has allowed us to grow and expand into these new territories, and we're all truly grateful. For real. You are all gurt lush.

 We'll continue to serve up our luscious brunch and lunch menu until 4pm daily, with coffee, soft drinks and cakes also available into the evening.

AND SO, we are now taking bookings for evening meals, open for food until 9pm from Tuesdays to Saturdays and drinks until 11pm. Walk ups are welcome though due to our 'cosy' limited space booking is advised to guarantee a table. To book please call 01373 464847.
